A IS FOR ADAM, AI, ARTIST

AI BALLET

Inspired by Peter Greenaway's M is for Man, Music, Mozart (1991)

"A is for Adam, AI, Artist" is a video project that reinterprets the logic of creation through contemporary AI-based image production. The work originates in a formative viewing experience: encountering Peter Greenaway’s M is for Man, Music, Mozart (1991) in the early 1990s, whose multilayered interplay of text, body, and image profoundly influenced Galina Bleikh’s artistic practice.

In this project, selected frames from the Greenaway’s film are translated into textual descriptions using AI (ChatGPT), which then function as prompts for generating new video sequences (Vivago). This process establishes a chain of transformations: image → language → image, foregrounding mediation as a creative act.

The video is built around a dual alphabet: one for Adam (the human body and experience) and one for AI (systems and abstraction). The work stages the human body as a site of transition—from organic matter to symbolic system to computational entity. The figure of Adam becomes algorithm, algorithm becomes AI, and AI emerges as a potential artistic subject.

The soundtrack is composed from AI-generated fragments (Suno, ElevenLabs), forming a layered musical score.

By engaging the concept of the “Black Box,” the project draws a parallel between algorithmic opacity and the unpredictability inherent in human creativity, proposing art as a shared condition between human and machine. On the eighth day of Creation, the human (Adam), in place of God, creates AI in its own image—and discovers an Artist.
